Phạm Trọng Cầu

Pham Trong Cau (1935-1998) was a famous Vietnamese musician, the author of the song "Autumn does not return" (Mùa thu không trở lại) and the children's song "For You" (Cho Con). He also has the pen name Phạm Trọng, which he used in the South before 1975. His compositions are often pure, emotional and easy to sing along. Although he studied at the Paris Conservatory, his musical legacy has no instrumental works but up to over 200 songs mainly written for both adults and children. After 1975, Phạm Trọng Cầu returned to work at the Ho Chi Minh City Arts and Culture Association, and was a member of the Music Association. Since 1976, he joined some other Vietnamese musicians such as Trịnh Công Sơn, Trần Long Ẩn, Miên Đức Thắng, Hoàng Hiệp, Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện, Trương Thìn,... to establish a group introducing new compositions at the Patriots' Fair, the first organization of its kind in Ho Chi Minh City after 1975.
