Revaz Gabichvadze
People's Artist of the GSSR (1967). Born on May 29 (June 11), 1913 in Tiflis. In 1935 he graduated from the Tbilisi Conservatory in the classical composition of M.M. Bagrinovskogo, V.V. Shcherbacheva and I.I. Tuskia, postgraduate study in 1938 (supervisor I. I. Tuskia, P. B. Ryazanov and B. A. Arapov). Since 1938 - teacher, since 1963 - Professor of the Tbilisi Conservatory, in 1945-1947 - Dean of the Faculty of Theoretical Composition. In the years 1931-1934 - conductor and composer Dram, Theater. K. Marjanishvili. Founder and artistic director (1941-1943) of the State Variety Orchestra of the Georgian SSR. Works: operas - Nana (Tbilisi, 1959), We, mothers of the world (1966); ballets - Hamlet (1971), Medea (1975); operetta - Dragonfly (based on the comedy M.
